Every year
on May 15th Congress has proclaimed a day to commemorate Officers
who have died in the line of duty, Peace Officer Memorial Day. This
is a time to express our commitment and show our respect for our
fallen heroes.
"National Police
Week" was enacted October 1, 1962 in the Congress of the United
States. This resolution authorized the President of the United States,
then John F. Kennedy, in 1963, to proclaim May 15th. of each year
as Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the calendar week of each year
during which May 15th. occurs as Police Week.
